Customer Reviews about St Pete Beach Veterinary Clinic
- ✪ ✪ ✪ ✪ ✪You may have seen the other 1 star review accusing Dr. Rose of killing someone's pet. I didn't pay much attention to it as it sounded slightly histrionic. Until Monday 8/28 when his negligence nearly killed my dog. I noticed my dog walking slower than usual Sunday. She has mild arthritis, and it was very hot out, so I didn't panic; just gave her an extra Dasuquin chew. Monday morning my regular vet (Oakhurst, since they took over for the amazing Dr. Mead when he moved out of state) couldn't fit me in until 5pm. SPB Vet said they could take me right away. I'm 1/4 mile from them but had not been impressed with Dr. Rose when I took my dog, Jasmine, when we first moved here. She was even slower, didn't get up for the sound of her leash. Dr. Rose checked her flexibility, felt her stomach and did blood work-when I insisted. I wanted x-rays specifically, but he did not see any need. He gave her Tramadol pills and an injection for possible upset stomach. His decree was that she had either fallen or eaten something that did not agree with her. He said bring her back in a week if she's not better. $300 later, I left, got her comfy and went to work. I knew something was not right. I called Oakhurst and made an appointment to drop her off for x-rays early the next morning. If I had not followed my gut, she would be dead now. The x-rays showed a shadowy area in her stomach. They suggested an ultrasound to be done Tuesday morning. I didn't want to wait. An ultrasound at Tampa Bay Emergency vet showed a mass in her bowel. She had emergency surgery where they removed the mass and 8 inches of intestine. The mass had also caused a rupture, which would have killed her within days. She is recovering. We won't know if the mass was cancerous for a week. If I had trusted Dr. Rose, my dog would not have lived. The most troubling part of this is, after talking to neighborhood friends, I hear similar stories. A limping dog who was seen and given a clean bill of health actually had cancer and needed a foot amputated due to his negligence. Please beware. Our pets are our family-I would never trust him with my family. As a side note, his staff are all amazing. They should look for a doctor worth working for.January 09, 2017by A M
